President's message from Terri Cadiente:

BACK TO THE ROOTS

This club was established 34 years ago 
Looking back to the roots
to those who formed us
We’re standing on great shoulders, And from that vantage point
We’re looking to take our roles as active stewards forward, today and into the future.

As a club we are looking forward to joining in strength, 
Joining with each other, and others 
With renewed energy and renewed vigor 
Lifting up -others. 

This community has a point 
This community is committed 
This community is one of action 
This CLUB-Soroptimist of Santa Clarita Valley, reflects our community 
by being about the point of service
and committed to easing the lives of others, 
namely women and girls. 

I have always been an individual 
Who believed in the power and impact 
Of what can be accomplished by being a part of a TEAM.
My privilege, being part of one of the greatest racing TEAMS – Factory Kawasaki 
I learned how deeply connected 
privilege and responsibility are. 
In fact they are inseparable. 
It’s our privilege to be Soroptimists’ and 
We have the opportunity to serve together with responsibility.

One thing I know about being a Champion -
Champions MOVE on cause. 
YOU are all here because YOU move on cause. 
What an honor to be in such a company with you. 

It gives life meaning for me 
to stand alongside other women 
Who want to make a difference 
in easing the burden of life for women and girls 
This is what I found in Soroptimist 
that fulfilled a need in me 
~to serve women and girls. 

I am so happy to be here today standing in this role 
Alongside you, 
Leading alongside you 
With this great purpose 
This is a life purpose of mine. 

Some of you know me ~
I am a woman of ACTION 
Literally, in my life I have chosen to be a stuntwoman. 
I learned how to stay safe by crashing cars 
and if there’s one thing I have learned 
It’s how to STEER. 
And since we are all in this together –
BIG SMILE
This is what I’d like our ride – our journey,
to look like: 
Returning the FOCUS to a 
healthy productive club of active 
service to women and girls that builds relationships and tears down walls that separate. 

Does that sound like something you interested in? 

I know this community 
I know you 
And I know me
I know what we’re capable of 
when we are united in our vision,
in our purpose, in our passion and mission 
I know how we affect others
and how they WANT to be a part of 
this outcome to serve others!!

Here’s what I know: 
This is WHO we’ve always been 
Lifting 
Supportive 
Providing 
Upholding 
This is WHO we are. 

I’ve chosen the metaphor of the tree and look how it fits in with WHO we are: 
Providing shade for a resting spot 
Lifts up for a greater vantage point to see 
further forward
Offer resources
Healthy roots produce healthy fruit ~
This reflects WHO we are and WHO we can be in this coming year 

By upholding and standing in our Soroptimist values, 
my job as a leader this year
is to mirror back WHO you really are: 
Your finest qualities 
Your strengths
Your passion and mission 
that put you in your seat today!
I will never forget that as your leader 
and President 
and I will honor that.

May we remember in ESSENTIALS – UNITY
NON-ESSENTIALS – LIBERTY
IN ALL – LOVE 
The LOVE I am speaking to is 
LOVE IN ACTION
This LOVE is unconquerable good will that seeks the benefit of another no matter what – 
More by CHOICE than CHANCE – 
to the exercise of the will 
rather than emotion.
